Mukilteo is a charming waterfront community in the Pacific Northwest minutes from Downtown Seattle. Located on the shores of Puget Sound, Mukilteo is the perfect launching point for local trips.
Take in views of Mt. Baker, Mt. Rainier, the Cascade Mountain Range and the Olympic Mountain Range. Mukilteo is known for its beautiful views, gorgeous beach areas and the Whidbey Island ferry port. Make the most of your visit and walk the nature trails of Japanese Gulch, Big Gulch, Lighthouse Park, Centennial Park and 92nd Street Park. Japanese Gulch includes an off-leash dog park perfect for all dogs. Experience the northwest beauty and explore local wildlife. Launch your boat at the Lighthouse Park Public Boat Launch, spend the day on our bay and get to know local fishing wonders. Cast a line on the T-Dock, located next to the Silver Cloud Inn. Enjoy one of Washington’s top 10 golf courses right here in Mukilteo. Harbour Pointe Golf Club offers 18 holes of fine golfing and tremendous views. Pro-shop and restaurant are located on site. Lighthouse Park offers a unique, natural habitat for colorful underwater sea life. Look for octopus, eels, crab of all sizes and lots of local fish. It’s a great, leisurely dive! Aviation enthusiasts will enjoy the Future of Flight Aviation Center & Boeing Tour. Learn about the history of flight as well as how modern aircraft are produced. Check out the Museum of Flight Restoration Center and see how the Restoration Center prepares exhibits for the museum. Mukilteo demonstrates both the past and present of aviation! Don’t miss the Historic Flight Foundation and the Flying Heritage Collection. In September, Mukilteo hosts the Mukilteo Lighthouse Festival. Join the city to celebrate a three-day event with a spectacular fireworks show, art booths, food booths, parade and live music on the beer garden main stage! There are many seasonal events that celebrate the beauty in Mukilteo.

Cultural Activities





Mukilteo is closely tied to aviation being located next door to Boeing and Paine Field. Aviation enthusiasts will enjoy the Future of Flight Aviation Center & Boeing Tour. Learn about the history of flight as well as how modern aircraft are produced. Check out the Museum of Flight Restoration Center and see how the Restoration Center prepares exhibits for the museum. Mukilteo demonstrates both the past and present of aviation! Don’t miss the Historic Flight Foundation and the Flying Heritage Collection. Mukilteo is a smaller city and emphasizes community activities. In June at the Mukilteo Car Show, classic to modern cars are displayed at the Historic Flight Foundation. Attendees vote for their favorite car while enjoying music, food and a great view. June through September you can find the Mukilteo Farmer's Market every Wednesday for fresh flowers, handmade crafts and local food. Open Mic Mights are every Wednesday, June-September in Old Town Mukilteo. The Mukilteo Chamber hosts Summer Outdoor Movies in July and August. The Mukilteo Arts Festival displays artwork from Puget Sounds artists at this yearly event in August. Run-A-Muk takes participants on a scenic route through Mukilteo. All ages and experience levels are welcome for this 5K/10K walk or run in August. A tradition for more than 30 years, Tree Lighting and Holiday Open House in December is a holiday event featuring Santa, local performers, crafting for the family and more!

Settle down at a local coffee shop and map out your fun – it’s easy to find a warm, cozy place to watch the locals and get to know the area. Visit our historic Mukilteo Light Station and Gift Shop. Stroll the beautiful property and imagine life as a lighthouse keeper. View the historic materials that follow the discovery of this area by Captain George Vancouver. Investigate aviation at the Future of Flight Aviation Center and Boeing Plant Tour. Come and see where the future of aviation is headed, take a test flight on the XJ5 Simulator or tour the Boeing Plant, the largest building in the world, and see jet plane assembly in action. Outdoor fun includes hiking, biking, golf and diving. Don’t miss open mic nights during the summers, the Farmers’ Market at Lighthouse Park, and the festivities during the Mukilteo Lighthouse Festival.

Transportation



Mukilteo is home to the busiest ferry in the state. The Mukilteo-Clinton ferry sails every 30 minutes from 5 a.m. to 1 a.m. most days from the ferry terminal in Old Town Mukilteo to Whidbey Island. Approximate crossing time is 20 minutes. Sound Transit has a station in Mukilteo, offering commuter runs to Seattle each morning. Air travel is just 45 minutes from Mukilteo by car along the I-5 corridor at the SeaTac International Aiport. Travel here is easy, scenic and convenient!

Best Time To Go:

Summer and spring.

Summers are warm and sunny, a wonderful time to explore the Mukilteo Lighthouse and beach. In the Spring, after a rainy Winter, the cherry blossoms are blooming and the sunsets over the water are spectacular. Winter is a great time to stay out of the rain with a cup of hot chocolate at a local cafe. During the Fall, leaves begin to change and there is a crispness in the air.
