Tacoma is a great location for exploring the Seattle-South Puget Sound environs. Boasting the longest continuous stretch of public waterfront for any U.S. city, Tacoma is just 20 minutes to the Seattle Tacoma International Airport, 30 minutes to downtown Seattle and 45 minutes to Mount Rainer park entrance. Top Tacoma attractions include the International Glass Museum, the Washington State History Museum, Antique Row and Point Defiance, a 700 acre waterfront rainforest park, with gardens, beaches, zoo & aquarium and 14 miles of trails through old growth forest. A short ferry ride from Point Defiance takes you across to Vashon Island, a long-held rural artist retreat with rural byways and local art galleries.

Mount Rainier National Park is only about an hour away with hundreds of trails to explore. Point Defiance Park is a gorgeous spot to go for a hike or take a scenic drive. The theater district in Tacoma is home to several theaters where you can watch a play or listen to a symphony. Tacoma is home to 5+ museums many within walking distance of each other. Tacoma's waterfront is the perfect place to take a stroll, rent a kayak, go fishing, or even take a dip. The amount of things to do in Tacoma is extensive. You will never be bored!

Tacoma's art scene is extensive. Known for glass art you can find it almost everywhere you go. Tacoma has a well known Theater District that boasts several theaters with top shows. The Grand Cinema in Tacoma shows popular films as well as classics and independent films. Tacoma has five well known museums within walking distance of each other. Transportation



The Link Lite Rail runs downtown Tacoma and is completely free. The Sounder Train stops in Tacoma which makes commuting to Seattle easy as pie. There is an Amtrak station in Tacoma which can take you to Portland for the weekend or a week getaway to Vancouver BC. The bus system will take you all over town, you may never need to drive again!

Best Time To Go:

Summer and fall.

Summer in Tacoma is perfect. With temperatures in the high 70's to low 80's you won't get too hot, but will be able to enjoy the outdoors. During the winter it can get a bit rainy but the temperatures don't usually dip below the 40's and it rarely, if ever, snows.
